Toriko 268: The Miracle Egg

Chapter 268 was really cool.  In the last chapter the Billion Bird was brought to life/maturity.  With a little encouragement billions upon billions of birds come into being.  Immediately they are distributed through out the human world - a mass slaughter if ever there was any!  All the top chefs cook courageously in an effort to make the Billion Bird taste good. (left)

 Everyone seems to succeed at this and they even recognized that every part of the billion bird can be used in one way or another; but only Komatsu, with his knack for hearing the ingredients, understands that the billion bird hasn't truly reached its potential just yet, in saying "I Never thought the Billion Bird was that bad tasting to begin with."  Meaning he knows that there is a delicious flavor within this creature that just needs to be brought out.  Now if it was mere coincidence or if he felt that this is what the ingredient needed its exactly clear because this is something that comes naturally to Komatsu.  He begins to compliment the bird and sympathize with it; and after hear these words the Billion Bird is so happy that this once ugly creature sprouts these gigantic wings of immense beauty. (right)

It takes to the air and continued to transform into a great bird, almost phoenix like.  And then we do a close up shot of its anus, and eggs start to fall from it.  They take the eggs to share with the other Kings and Coco can tell that these eggs are different from before.  The first eggs came out when the bird was scared, but these came from compliments.  Its a very ying and yang sort of thing, fear and love if you will.  They crack the egg into wine glasses (baller) and its sorta gel like, and the yoke is displaced evenly throughout.  Toriko goes to take a sip of the egg and without realizing it ingest the entire thing.  His hair, his eye lashes, and nails all begin to grow at the rapid pace.  He comments how this happened in the gourmet world a lot.  We also saw this with the bubble fruit.  Sani's hair gets out of control(left), Zebra doesn't look too fazed by it, and Coco turns into some pretty boy(below.)

Now here is where the best part comes in.  Something happened that in the Manga that hasn't happened for a very long time.  Toriko added an item to his full course!(below)  The Billion Bird Egg is now taken the slot of his drink.  I personally feel very neutral about this.  I thought the drink would of been a proper drink; but the curve ball of the Billion Bird ending up as a gourmet drink item was unexpected so its cool by me.  Also it strikes me as strange that with the entire time hes been in the gourmet word living side by side with the best ingredients on the planet he had not added even one more dish to his full course.  I hope they touch on that in a later chapter.
